1972 Airstream Land Yacht Trade Wind 25' Travel Trailer for sale on BaT Auctions - closed on May 25, 2024 (Lot #148,264) | Bring a Trailer

This 1972 Airstream Land Yacht Trade Wind is a double-axle travel trailer that was refurbished and modified following the seller’s acquisition in 2022. The project involved repairing the subfloor, re-sealing the roof, reconfiguring the bedroom, and replacing the plumbing, electrical system, bathroom, appliances, overhead cabinetry, countertops, flooring, curtains, and lighting. The floor plan features a front lounge area with a sofa bed and a fold-away table, a kitchenette, a central bedroom with two twin beds, and a bathroom. Equipment includes 15″ alloy wheels, equipment lockers, a Coleman Mach air conditioner and heat pump, a Zip Dee awning, and dual propane tanks. This Airstream Trade Wind is now offered with manufacturer’s literature and a clean South Carolina title.

Airstream introduced the Trade Wind travel trailer in 1959, and the 25′ model was introduced in 1969 with production continuing into the 2020s. The aluminum exterior of this example features hinged windows, an extended rear bumper with an integrated storage compartment, an entry door with a hinged screen panel, a folding boarding step, equipment lockers, and Airstream badging. Work under current ownership involved patching and re-sealing the roof, replacing the window screens, and painting the window frames as well as refurbishing the Zip Dee awning with Sunbrella fabric and replacement hardware, installing LED lighting, and polishing the body panels. The seller notes a dent on the camp-side body panel behind the awning strut, and the left-front corner window is fogged.

The double-axle chassis rolls on 15″ five-slot alloy wheels wearing Carlisle Radial Trail tires. Stopping power is provided by electrically actuated drum brakes, and the frame has four stabilizer jacks and a power-operated tongue jack. A stainless-steel 45-gallon gray water tank and a stainless-steel 20-gallon black tank have been installed, and additional equipment includes a freshwater tank and Shurflo pump, two tongue-mounted 30-lb propane tanks, a Duracell house battery, low-point drains, and connections for water, waste disposal, and 30-amp electrical service. Work during the refurbishment reportedly involved replacing the propane regulator, hoses, and valves as well as the tires, wheel bearings, and shock absorbers. The trailer weighs approximately 4,500 lbs. with a tongue weight of roughly 650 lbs. according to the seller.

The interior is outfitted with white walls, curtains, Marmoleum woodgrain flooring, and overhead lighting. The sofa has been reupholstered with ivory cloth and folds out to form a bed. The lounge area features wraparound windows, skylight windows with retractable covers, side cabinets, and a fold-away table. The Bose speaker shown in the gallery photos is not included in the sale.

The kitchenette has a laminate countertop, a stainless-steel sink, a two-burner Summit cooktop, a GE air fryer convection microwave oven, and a 12-volt Norcold refrigerator freezer as well as walnut drawers with dovetail joints, cabinets, and overhead storage compartments. House equipment includes a Coleman Mach air conditioner and heat pump, power-operated ceiling vents with LED lighting, a Truma demand-service water heater, a 120-volt breaker panel, and a 12-volt fuse panel.

The central bedroom houses two twin beds with Engineered Sleep mattresses as well as reading lights, USB power ports, overhead cabinets, under-bed drawers, side windows, and an accordion-style privacy door. The bathroom is located at the rear of the trailer and features a shower with a stainless-steel surround as well as duckboard flooring, a porcelain sink and toilet, a mirror, and a walnut vanity.
